LIGHT DESIGN

This design explores the intersection of innovation and artistic exploration to promote East Carolina University's annual Research and Creative Achievement Week (RCAW). As a celebration uniting all 14 colleges, RCAW challenges students to expand their creativity and knowledge through various activities.

 

I sought a hands-on approach, mirroring the experimental spirit of RCAW. Inspired by the theme "The Possibilities Are Infinite," I composed a dome featuring diverse typefaces to symbolize the unique qualities of each college while maintaining a cohesive composition.

 

In a nod to sustainability, I repurposed a children's star projector, replacing the original star dome with my design. This transformation not only allowed for word projections on walls but also introduced dynamic motion and a spectrum of color choices. Precision was key, with half of the words on the dome strategically reversed to ensure readability.

 

The intricate process involved meticulous experimentation to guarantee accurate detail display. The final touch involved capturing the dome in a dark room, with words delicately reflected in a corner for added depth. The subsequent digital design of the overlaying text completes a visually compelling poster, encapsulating the essence of RCAW's spirit and the boundless possibilities it represents.
